Website & Social Media Review

If you’re thinking about working with me, you probably have a sense that your website isn’t delivering what you expected. Or a hunch that your social media channels are just shouting out into a void.

That’s usually a sign something needs attention. But before you start fixing things, it’s important to know what exactly is wrong, and what, in amongst it all, is actually working fine.

Which is why, before delivering any other digital communications services, I tend to start client projects with a review of where they currently stand.

What is a website and social media review?

In a website and social media review, I take an objective look at whether your website and social media are actually helping your business, not just whether they exist or look fine. I check what’s working, what isn’t, and how that lines up with what you’re actually trying to achieve, whether that’s enquiries, sales, bookings, or something else.

Why it matters

There are two reasons why this review is an important starting point. Firstly, it gives us data on which to base all our later decisions. If we have numbers that tell us what’s working and what isn’t, it helps us focus on what actually needs attention, rather than just attacking everything and hoping for an improvement.

But it’s also a chance to ask some fundamental questions about what your business is trying to do, who you are trying to target, why you think you offer them the best solution. With good data and some honest answers to those key questions, you can start to build up a genuinely valuable picture of where your online presence is and what steps you need to take to get it working better for you.

What a review involves

A set of prioritised findings, focused on what will make the biggest difference, not a long list of everything that could be improved. A review will usually cover:

  • A search visibility check, confirming Google can actually find, read, and rank your website and if so, what you are appearing for right now
  • A look at your site analytics to see what content is getting attention, where your traffic is actually coming from, and whether visitors are turning into customers
  • A social channel audit to see if the platforms you use are delivering a return on your time and effort and whether others out there might serve you better
  • An objective look at your messaging and tone of voice to see whether what you think about your business and what you say publicly are aligned and working to support your goals
  • An assessment of performance against your real-world goals, whether that’s enquiries, sales, sign-ups, or another measure of success

Can I get this service as a standalone?

As with all my digital communications services, a website and social media review can be offered as a standalone service on its own. But it works best as the first step in a long-term approach. From here, you have the information you need to start building your content strategy and social media strategy and have a baseline to see how your authority-building efforts are working for you.
